Actually the college JEOPARDY weeks start today at 4:30 p.m. on NBC–the World Herald mentions tomorrow, but maybe that’s when Hayley’s actual appearance begins.
In any event, I just got an email from the JEOPARDY folks pointing me to this site, which includes interviews of the students. Hayley is 3rd from the right, front row, wearing Husker Red.

Apparently Bill’s “New Rules” is a regular feature on his program (which I don’t generally watch, but probably should–he’s one of the funniest guys out there). This segment is worth watching for the last few minutes, in which he psychoanalyzes George Bush. A little R-rated language on the way, though…:
A very strange week–no one voted off.
My conspiracy theorist son speculated that the voting results may have caused the producers to manipulate things at the last minute by carrying results over to this next week (as in: Jordan Sparks was in last place–which I can’t believe, but feared might have been true–and they didn’t want to lose her just yet).
According to Dial Idol, however, Sparks was all alone in first place–everyone else (including Doolittle, who had slipped to 3rd) was in danger of being voted off. Was Sparks really in the bottom 3 last week? Sometimes the public, in their desire to keep an unpopular favorite of theirs on (Phil Stacey comes to mind, now that Sanjaya is gone), will forget to vote for the ones they are assuming are shoo-ins.
In any event, I’m pretty confident that Sparks–who I now think will win it all–will not be in the bottom 3 this coming week. And Vegas agrees:

My son Clint is really smart. (It’s not fair to judge him by his comments here…) 
In high school–Millard South High, here in Omaha–his classmate Hayley Clatterbuck was frequently his “intellectual nemesis”: the other student that just might be a little smarter than you…at least, on any given day. I had one of those in high school, too–and I know he reads this blog. (Hi, Clark!)
Anyway, I used to tease Clint about this old competition a lot.
And now I learn from this morning’s Omaha World Herald that Hayley–a student at the University of Nebraska–will be competing on tv’s JEOPARDY for a potential two-week stint starting this coming Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. on NBC.
Good for you, Hayley! Your parents must be very proud!!

On April 28, 2006, I posted my first entry here–after struggling for hours to get my WordPress software (free) uploaded (with Filezilla, free) to my new website (hosted at www.1and1.com, for about 5 bucks a month).
In that year since, I have posted exactly 600 entries (this one is #601), had 1005 comments (!), and battled against precisely 10,980 spam attempts. (Yes, spam is a real problem with blogs–spammers try and post their own comments linking to their sites so that their GOOGLE rankings rise. I have a filter that catches 99% of the stuff).
Of greatest value here, of course, has been the investment advice–as a minority of you have learned. The price you have had to pay for these occasional nuggets has been to have had to sift through my rants on Republicans and religion, opinions regarding life on Mars and the legalization of online poker, nostalgia regarding comic books and Tarzan, the various merits of Ann Coulter and Antonella Barba, and some really strange videos.
Only rarely have I stooped to bathroom humor. 
Thank you for coming along on the journey so far–and a particular thanks to my Facebook Friends (via my kids’ sites) and my Marketocracy Mates.

”WASHINGTON (Reuters) – House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank on Wednesday said he will introduce a bill this week to lift a ban on online gambling.
“Why anyone thinks it is any of my business why some adult wants to gamble is absolutely beyond me,” Frank told a community bankers group conference.
“Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat, said he will introduce the legislation on Thursday.
“Internet gambling in the United States was effectively banned last October when signed legislation outlawing gaming financial transactions.
“The ban irked some in the , which is home to online gambling companies that were forced to withdraw from the United States.”

This bill, if passed, could bring The Weasel out of retirement–and bring a much-needed boost to his ego, after a lackluster performance in Vegas last week…
