Thanks for checking out my blog.

I hope to retire in the next year or so, and decided to start this blog for a number of reasons:

1.  I wanted to get in the habit of writing regularly, since that’s one of the things I want to do when I grow up;

2.  I thought it might actually save some time over emailing with trying to keep my friends and family informed of my news and interests, and all of those links to websites I’m always sending them;

3.  It’s supposedly “therapeutic” to journal, and I’ve been going through a lot of crisis points lately: my nest has emptied recently, my oldest got married, I turned 55 (senior citizen discounts!), and, of course, there’s that whole retirement thing coming up;

4.  And, finally, it’s an outlet for the “creative” side of me–I intend to post links to music I have composed (a hobby of mine), perhaps I’ll post some of my writing efforts, and…I will keep people apprised of successes and failures over at my companion site www.PettitFunds.com (with an occasional “stock tip” for my investor fans!)
