Actually, this is a video time-delay technique called “slit scanning” invented in the 70’s. Weird stuff:

June 29, 2007American Idol Auditions In Omaha August 10
June 26, 2007
BREAKING NEWS: According to this morning’s OMAHA WORLD HERALD, Omaha will be one of the venues for this year’s auditions–eventually to be featured in one of their early programs starting in January, 2008.
Auditions will be held August 10. Apparently, there is some wristband-handing-out procedure for the two days prior. Details at the American Idol site.
Good luck. We promise not to laugh at you! (Right…)

Blake vs. Jordin–The Las Vegas Odds
May 18, 2007

No surprise to me that Doolittle was voted off.
Yes, she is the best professional singer, but–she doesn’t have the charisma these two have. These two are very commercial; Doolittle wasn’t. It’s American “IDOL”, folks–not American “Best Professional Singer”.
Dial Idol was dead wrong this week, predicting Doolittle would win over the other two.
On March 25th, this blog went on record advising you to bet against Doolittle–who, at the time was the vast favorite at 1/2 odds–and to bet on Blake, who was 7/1.
My prediction for The Finale? I don’t know. Probably Jordin, but I think it’ll be close. Vegas has her heavily favored–1/4 is all you’ll get betting on Jordin; you’ll get 2.5 to 1 for Blake.
In any event, they will both release records and both will sell well. Doolittle will also release one and not do so well.
Such is life…

AMERICAN IDOL–Las Vegas Odds For The Final Three
May 12, 2007
So here’s last week’s predicted results from Dial Idol–a fascinating site that I’ve mentioned here before a couple of times.
The site has been somewhat accurate in their predictions thus far (refer to the site itself for their scientific methodology)–but Vegas (presumably, the smart money) has always been higher on Doolittle. Jordin and Blake are all by themselves at Dial Idol–and I’m wondering if the site’s demographics (gotta be mostly 15-year-old white boy geeks, right?) might be distorting the results in Blake’s favor a little. We’ll see this coming week.
Meanwhile, here’s the smart money Las Vegas odds:

Blake Lewis

7/2

Jordin Sparks

Blake Lewis & Ableton Live
May 8, 2007
Last Tuesday, Blake Lewis briefly mentioned that he uses a piece of software called Ableton Live to work on his unusual arrangements.
I have owned the software for several years, although I do not use it much–not that it’s a bad program. I have quite a few other programs that I use more (plus I’ve put my “music career” on hiatus for about a year now, and besides–my dedicated music computer is on the blink).
If you’re curious as to what the software does, visit the site. If you’re brand new to MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and computer-generated music, it may be a little overwhelming to you. Nonetheless, it is my passion.
Here are some videos that might help you understand what these programs are capable of doing:
